Sophomore Year Update

The last time I updated my blog here, I hadn’t even finalized my plans to attend university. Now I’m in the fourth week of my sophomore year of USF’s animation program, and I’m loving (almost) every second of it. There’s so much to update on coming back from such a long break.

The first biggest change is obviously that I’ve been living the college life for the past year and some change. With university comes the unfortunate restructuring of priorities, and I’ve never been incredible at priorities. I put this website on the back burner as school projects took over. Beyond that, I found that there wasn’t much I wanted to talk about. A lot of the time, but especially in my first year, my projects didn’t inspire or warrant, mostly because personal projects were few and far between while I was focusing on three studio courses worth of class art.

University didn’t define all hours of my life, though. In the months leading up to school and on breaks, I got really into Valve’s newest MOBA/shooter portmanteau, Deadlock. VALVe engineered their newest indev to entrance and consume old heads from LoL, DotA, TF2, Overwatch, and any other hero shooter or battle arena you can name. Unfortunately, I’m TERRIBLE at it. Even after over two years of having access to the alpha/beta, I’m sitting in the lower ranks happily pretending I understand what’s going on.

Besides that, there’s not much that’s changed that I’m comfortable sharing on the internet. If you know me, you know me, and you know what’s up. Here’s to hoping I find more time this semester to update this thing. I think that’s pretty likely, because there were still a few personal projects I got really excited about last semester that I was able to complete. In the meantime, check out my past projects, and go support PASS Fortress once they finally release a public test build of some kind. In a court room I could say without perjury that I contributed to the project, though I hope I can give them something more concrete in my free time. They’re making magic.

Other than that, keep an eye out for additional blog posts as I get the opportunity to make them. Apologies that the site was down for a while; I genuinely cannot tell you what went wrong with my .htacess file. Whatever it was, my host helped me figure it out. It should be set for about ten more seconds before shattering again.
